Poland’s best - From idol to rival

Poland’s best - From idol to rival

Two of Poland's finest women MMA fighters came together to meet in the Octagon. The current UFC straw weight champion, the ferocious Joanna Jedrejczyk, was a long-time idol of seemingly calm, prepared and elegant Karolina Kowalkiewicz. This fight was a clear reminder to us of how things have changed over time for both of them. They were now meeting as clearly defined rivals.

Jedrejczyk was well in control for most of the fight until the end of round four when Kowalkiewicz struck directly into a step which almost finished the fight for Jedrejczyk. She managed to get back into the beat of things, but both parties where winded by that point and the fight still had a full round to go.

The final round required a finish for Kowalkiewicz to take the win but Jedrejczyk managed to run out the clock for that not to happen. Jedrejczyk did more than enough to get the win through a unanimous decision and she remains the champion.
