I admit, I'm a McGregor fan. There's something about his showmanship that, for me, brings the true entertainment value to the sport that is MMA (especially UFC). Nevertheless, I watched the much anticipated UFC202 McGregor/Diaz fight with objectivity. I really tried to evaluate both fighters as neutral as one should in order to report back to fans.
The fight was clear win in favor of McGregor. There should be no doubt there. In a five round battle, Diaz (aka the tree stump - no disrespect, he just takes hits like one) managed to surprisingly withstand round after round of what I witnessed as good stand up pounding. McGregor clearly dominated this fight at almost all levels and Diaz fan's (or McGregor haters) should take the time to review the fight before claiming it was anything less than a solid victory for the Irish MMA machine. Unless of course one considers a slap to the face as a significant hit or perhaps the fact the McGregor did in fact seem winded after the first round for which he managed accordingly by moving away from Diaz a few times later on.
FACT: McGregor dominated this fight!
